So, more disgusting news from Webster St.
I thought that bug was puked out, so I tried some solid food today. Seems that was not such a good idea. Now I have problems on the other end as the virus courses through me.
Goodness.
On a happier note, the Vay-Kay pics are up on Flickr: Week One; Week Two; Week Three
Comments will be added later, it took long enough getting these million pics ready for publication.

What a horrible day
Yesterday sucked to no end.
I woke up with a headache and a queasy feeling in my stomach. I thought that it was just a hangover and went to lie down upstairs. I only lasted for 10 minutes before I had to throw up.
The rest of the day was spent between the bed and the toilet, throwing up about every 1/2 hour. No longer was this just a hangover (though the headache certainly was related).
I honestly thought I would die as I was unable to even keep down any measure of water (or bread or banana). Thanks to Wills and her homeo remedies, I was able to keep down some icepops by 10:00 last night.
What a hellish day. Hopefully today will be better, I'm still awaiting results of the first solid food. Frickin' flu, like I don't have enough to worry about.

seriously drunken
So, in the spirit of the title of this blog, I am drunk.
And I am sad. But that is just a small part of how I currently feel.
I just got home last night from a wonderful vacation. Pictures and stories to follow.
Tonight I went to Kickball practice. I didn't know that this was the same night that all of my law school friends (sans first year rooomie) was going to be sworn in as proper lawyers. That information made me die a little inside. Because I didn't pass the bar. Because I didn't have the energy, the stamina, the willpower. Because I just didn't want to study anymore. Because moving to Portland was the one thing in my life that finally made me free and happy. So sue me (hahahahahaha) if I take a couple of months more to take the f'n bar again and learn all that shit they need me to memorize to pass their little b*s* test so that I can join their little fraternity. Which I will do beyotches, somehow. First finding a job and being able to pay rent and trying once again to jump over that black abyss that has opened in front of me. . .
Life lesson: so it sucks. Do it right the first time so that you won't have to suffer again through the suck ass'ness of doing it again, instead of thumbing your nose at them --- they really don't care. One more time. I knew it would suck coming home to reality. Just like quitting smoking however, one has to face all the shit, to endure the pain is the greatest hurdle.
Friends that didn't go through law school took me out bowling tonight. I didn't want to go. I'm glad they drug me out, because they give a shit about me, regardless of whether I passed the bar.
And then I walked the dog. He pooped twice. He doesn't care either. And my cats are damn happy I'm home. (Boy left tonight for Boise...btw: he initially took it harder than me that I didn't pass, the residue however is on me).
So all is well, and I wonder most whether the moth that is freaking out at my window is happier if I leave the light on or turn it off. Any ideas, science poo heads?
I hate how we humans torture each other. What the fuck is the point?
P.S. props to Aubrey for the hugs at practice.
Tonight I cry. Tomorrow I pick myself up, dust myself off and start it all over again.
Erin Brokovich again....sticktoitiveness - that's all I have left.

The response is heartwarming

Hiatus
This will be my last posting for a long time. I might update randomly from the road, but will likely be nowhere near an internet or phone connection. Sorry dear readers, but please look for me again after September 25th. Hopefully I will be happy, healthy and in good spirits upon my return. I will also have an answer about the pesky bar exam results (only a few more days. I like to practice not seeing my name on the list by looking at the old lists.). Either way I should have a bit more direction for my life when I get back. In the meantime, follow my links, they are where I get most of the funny things I find on the internet.
So, I'm heading to Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. We have squared away Fife's health certificate and the cats' nanny. We do still have to gather our belongings however, and I will be very busy taking care of loose ends today, as we'll be leaving tomorrow morning, hopefully to be near or on the island before nightfall. Lots of photos when I get back.
Update: Our first Kickball game was fantastic! We started out poorly, giving up 4 runs in the first inning (we were playing the summer champions). However, we then got our defense tightened up like the sphincter the other team was and started shutting out their innings. Then we made a run. They only made two other runs after that. So it was 6-1, but the best loss I've ever experienced. Going into the game, it was assumed we'd be trounced. There was even worry that we'd have to be given runs to keep the game going (only a 10 run deficit is allowed). WE DID IT! Seriously, props to Crap for organizing, and to the whole team for being such incredible players. Well done. We have to practice, but at least now we know what we have to do to get better.

poor FSM

So, today I was unable to get on the FSM website, and found a fantastic entry on Wikipedia. Sadly, they've taken it down until the results of a vote. In the meantime the official website of the FSM is back up and I'm linking to it's news section (go to the bottom of the page).
This site rules. It not only has a FSM car logo, but also carries all the Darwin fish and sushi fish (all making fun of the Jesus fish that are placed on cars).
The painting of Great Sandwich's! house is officially over! It looks just fine and is now wearing suitable clothing for the upcoming winter (though that mold in the paint somewhat concerns me).
I found the best possible cat sitter. She's an reliable friend and experienced cat sitter that I will be paying. This means that I can request certain deeds such as cleaning the litter box knowing that with payment, such things are more likely to get done. And I don't have to worry about some stranger having access to my house for three weeks. Yeay! Now I just have to clean the house, pack all the things, go shopping for the stuff I don't have and plan the trip. (Thanks Aubrey for telling me about Nikki and her cat-sitting skills.)
I would like to give a shout out to the Pet Loft . I stopped using them because I live so far away from them, and tried to get my litter and food from a very local merchant on Mississippi. Well, I hate Mississippi street and hate that store and that lady even more, for various reasons. I LOVE the Pet Loft. They act as counselor and friend, they always have what I need and they always carry out the tons of litter to my car. They know what they are talking about and though the price of gas makes it kinda expensive to go there, I will never, ever go anywhere else for my pet supplies.
I would also like to give a shout out to my neighbors across the street (not behind us - I still hate them), for creating a special light fixture that will keep the light from shining directly into the living room and upstairs entertainment room). That was amazingly nice and kind of them and I'm gonna go give them some zucchini bread.
I am going to make more of an effort to positively reinforce all those that are actually nice to me.

Question about Mars
Within the last ten years, I've been notified no less than 5 different times that if I were to look to the East sky, I would see Mars larger than perhaps any human has ever seen Mars. This due to it being closer than ever, ever, ever. Well, each time I look at Mars, it is pretty interesting and to my naked eye, yes a bit bigger than it normally is. But if five years ago it was larger than it wil
l be in 200 years and last weekend it was larger than it will be until 2087, well, I'm confused. Is Mars going to collide with the Earth, and folks are trying to make us not worry by pretending that everytime it gets a bit closer that it is a once-in-a-lifetime sighting?
Hmmm, this I am very curious about.
In other news, I have a wicked micro-brew hangover. My head is pounding. I went to the Kickball Captain's meeting last night, and mistakenly drank some Mirror Pond, which always gives me a hellish headache the next day. Never again. Even worse, I made a damn sandwich. A Microbrew/Scotch/Corona sandwich. I broke two drinking rules in one night. And a hell of a lot of things to do today and tomorrow (including finishing a house painting project) before leaving for three weeks on vacation.
Kickball folks are kinda crazy, just so everyone knows. This will be an interesting endeavor.
Anyone know a good local catsitter?

Hello

Long weekend, but a good one. We went up to the north side of Mt. Adams, to camp with some friends. It was quite lovely to hang out next to a lake and enjoy the fresh air and scotch. On Saturday, Steve and I went on a grueling (3,000 feet in 3ish miles) 7 hour hike, that took us almost to the edge of the glacier of Mt. Adams. I did one of the dumbest things of my life (the kind of thing I make fun of Steve for having done in the past): we were looking for a lake at 7,500ft, and thought it must be just over that scree. Well, it wasn't, and the trip I took up and down the extremely angled hill was enough to make my legs shake, as even the very large boulders were not at all secure. That I escaped with no broken limbs was a bit of a miracle.
The next day was spent lounging until I just lost all interest in the beautiful Council Lake that I wanted to go to because I was so exhausted. I slept in the car while the others swam.
Then on to home, shopping for our next trip and I actually went to bed before 11:00. Slept for 12 hours. Today will be picking up the pieces and trying to determine where we are going on our trip that will last 3 weeks and starts on Thursday of this week. It is so cold at night in these mountains, that we're just not so sure about heading up north anymore. Perhaps southern Utah? We'll see.
Photos soon to be loaded...Here they are, enjoy!

Not much today
I'm going camping later today, and I've spent all my allotted internets time working on getting the left side of my blog to look nice. Dumb error. I knew I had to close the links somehow (the Labels such as "My Shit" were linking to the prior button), and couldn't figure it out. Duh, just need to close that "/a". In the meantime, I've figured out what "p" and "br" and "div" all do.
I'm pretty sure that's the geekiest thing I've ever written. But, seriously, I need to take a class so I don't have to keep reinventing the wheel every time I come up with a problem (cuz I knew what all those things did, through other trial and error stuff. The problem is that I haven't written any code from scratch, I just cut and paste a lotta crap, which helps a bit, but I need all the nitty-gritties to really learn something.)
Camping to take place on the northern side of Mt Adams this time. Tougher hikes and hopefully better scenery. We have four lakes that we might be camping on...very nice, almost like a vacation. We'll see though, there will be three dogs and four adults this time.
And no chemicals in my body. I've had no stimulants or depressants in my system for a few days now. The days seem endless. Nothing, really, not even any coffee! I know, I'm not sure what I'm trying to prove either. I've just lost the urge to ruin myself. Except by not finding a job or communicating with loved ones or actually exercising. But I'm trying to improve, so give me some time peeps, you'll see a new and improved jkf come out of all of this, I promise.
I have to get all the stuff ready or the boy will kill me for being so lazy. A lovely weekend to all.

Howdy
Well, my life just seems to simmer on. Avoiding any real responsibility and just coasting along, trying to get back my bearings after 6 months of hell. I sleep a lot.
Last night however was a very good Kickball practice we had a total of 12 people show up, several that I met for the first time and we were all able to get some good practice in each position. We also had a bit of a dodgeball game and a sprint. Good people, all give a shit. We still have 4 others on the team, and hopefully we'll have a day when all are present.
I've been a quitter of smoking for over three weeks now. I just wanna remind myself and everyone else that smokes that it can be done. Two weeks and then it is smooooooth sailing.
This weekend I'll be heading back to Mt Adams for some swimming and relaxing. For that, I'm excited.

Bored
So today I have the third Kickball practice, but the first one that feels official. Somehow I've gotten myself into the position of Captain, with I initially did just to help out, but since I do enjoy organizing, I have taken on my responsibilities with zeal.
That zeal manifesting itself into a new blog. So, if you wanna keep up with the goings-on of The Ligers kickball team, please, help yourself.

As promised, bus poetry
Thanks to SCT, these pictures are from local busses;
Our own version of the horrible mode of communication loosely labeled "art" follows:
Where?
the moon is large in the sky,
as I wander through the winds of time,
searching for the thimble that lost its way,
I scurry through the field wondering why the placenta wanders,
waiting for the moon
Vacation
my eyes are wet with the salt of the earth.
why must the trees weep for the field when the city is near and happens every day.
I wake with taunts of twisted metal in my heart. waiting. wishing. for the beach
Where II
the bus makes its way to the street that isn't there,
wanting to fulfill its destiny it cannot
yet continues because there is nothing else to do
Wind
Look!
The window of time escapes me.
I watch, and I wait
Thoughts escape me
As if time is like the llama of golden bush
Founded on the rice patties of Vietnam life
Unfolded pearls of wisdom from the side
Cold
Meaty
Shark like instincts touch my farm
Watch me rise from the ground like so many slaves
Breitenbush tango
You are so Deeeep, man!
Like the pools of water in my soul,
you speak to the essence of the hybrid Subaru
wanting the world to be more like your mind,
you close your eyes and see the future
written upon your eyelids.
pressing your palms hard, the colors of
life, love, loss, extinction
seep into your heart
Crim Pro
Wake up world and taste my spittle
Crawl up the passages of time
and watch the soul burn
Drink expensive coffees and buy expensive perfume
Crime rates on the drop
Can you be the police too?
Stolen time
I like the way you talk
I like the way you walk
You really turn me on
It is sad, this world, where
we cannot come together
Why are you plagued with youth?
and I with senility

I'd also like to mention
That I have a splitting headache. I decided to be all Snoop D, and drink me some gin and juice. Well, today, every meow and bark sets my head a-throbbin. Ouch. I'm no gangsta.
Photos
Well kids, I got plumb fed up with the free applications out there for photo sharing, Blogger included. Thus, I finally shelled out $25 to get a Flickr account that actually allows me to upload in batches, easily add captions, has a lovely preview utility that you see to your left, and it is so easy, so easy. You can even add comments to pictures, unless people are assholes, then that privilege will be revoked. Amen.
I'll be working on this for a while, so have some patience.
Update: Here's my link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jkf/, though I do believe you can just click on the Flash photos to the left.

Nice nostalgic find
I was looking for something completely unrelated, and found the column when Dan Savage first called for a sex act to be named after Rick Sanitorum. The I, Anonymous for that week is pretty funny too.
Crap, I found one of those ribbon sticker/magnets. The brilliance is that the sticky part is on the magnet, I'll just tear off the old, gay, "I love Dubya." You come in with your superior photoshopping skills.
The rest of the world: give me your ideas, and we'll make a new sticker to place on someone's car. You know what I'm talking about.

A cozy day
It rained this A.M., so that is my excuse for not painting, especially as it looks like it will stay dreary and damp. I would like to sit on the couch and watch movies all day and sleep when I wanna, but more likely I'll spend it working on trying to upload all my weekend pictures on my photo blog. Perhaps I'll do it on the couch instead. I spend an hour every morning trying to make sure all is well with Kickball, and then organize my schedule, when I haven't checked my phone messages in a week! Sorry everyone.
One of these days the money will be gone and then I will have that kick in the head I need to get my shit together. See, I can't even relax when I have time off.

So, robots are super-cool, and being able to stand again after falling is a nice trick, but does anyone else find the video kinda scary?
Finally, someone figured out how to make money from people stealing others' music, and making it legit to boot. Bout damn time, cuz ain't no one goin back to the malls to buy shitty cd's.

Tired and dirty!
We camped and hiked all weekend. It went like this: we left Portland about 10:00 pm on Friday night. I know, silly, and likely disasterous, but we just couldn't face not going. So we did, arriving at the campsite at 12:30, finding a lovely spot, setting up, having a fire, etc. It was lovely. The next day we moved camp to another site on a river and with less dirt. We then hiked an amazing trail that we didn't even know existed. The best part was the view, which was of the Cascade Range and more incredible than anything I've ever seen. Then we heard a large crack and didn't think anything about it until later when the trail had a creek next to it that at first led me to believe that we had taken a wrong turn on the way back. Alas, soon we happened upon the creek as it was making its way down the mountain, something having set in motion a new water source. We followed it for a while then headed to camp to make sure we were prepared in case it decided to course through our 'perfect' campsite. Thankfully it did not.
Then today, we got up and drove to another trail, Indian Heaven, which was truly a bit of heaven, though the 1200ft of elevation gain in the first mile felt like hell. There were huckleberries galore and I do believe we each ate at least a quart. I skinny-dipped in water deeper than I am tall (an amazing feat if you know me at all), finding out later that a group of Reed hikers watched us the whole time. I ran down the mountain bare-footed because of blisters. Later, we saw some natural bridges, an ice cave and a big tree (the largest known ponderosa pine, ooooh).
A fantastic weekend, except for being much too dumb to bring a watch along on the hike today and missing kickball practice. Oooops, though likely they didn't need me anyway.
Photos up when I get the chance. SCT, feel free to add your own reflections, and thanks for a wonderful weekend.

Friday
Well, some painting got done at the sandwich's yesterday, but it felt a lot like treading water. Sadly, so will today. I'm heading there now, but it will be way too hot to do anything on the South side and then I'm leaving to go camping for the weekend. Sorry GS!
Book club was fantastic. Lots of fun having everyone in the same place again and we actually remembered enough of the last book, Asleep, by Banana Yoshimoto, to have a coherent discussion. I do believe it received 4 thumbs up, so check it out.
The rest of the evening was just plain silly.
So, I'll catch you cats all again on Monday, have a lovely weekend.
But first, check out this amusing offer: $250,000 if you can prove Jesus isn't the son of the Flying Spagetti monster...it's intelligent design...take a look.

So I found this

Here's a video from Discovery Channel Canada saying that the Mercedes/Swatch Smart Car is finally being introduced to the Americas. YES! Perhaps I'll pick one up on vacation. They have six gears. They are wonderful. You only have to pay 1/2 price on parking in Germany if you have one of these. DAMN!
Seriously, if anyone has some extra dough sitting around, I would love to be a trend setter on this one.
This will be short
great sandwich! is back and I need to go and paint her house. She just got back and though I'm sure she's disappointed that I didn't finish painting her house while she was gone, she seems relatively confident enough in my abilities not to have freaked out when she called yesterday. Whew.
So, watched the Cincinnati Kid last night, with my beau, Steve McQueen. He's dreamy, but the movie was a little less than spectacular. I did like the ending, all old-school and somewhat anti-Hollywood. But the gem of the evening was Kung Fu Hustle, which I've mentioned before is one hella good movie. Their site has some fun Flash games.
So, I'm off, let me know if you find any good internet gems. I'll be at book club tonight, so I'll likely not chat again until tomorrow.

Another blog change
Since I was so bored, I decided to rework my blog. Most of what I wanted to do was possible. Now I have one day on the main page. To see earlier days, simply, well, it should be self-explanatory. Let me know if there are bugs or if I've made the site less user friendly. I thought it would load faster this way, and it will be easy to see past days. The only thing I wish I had was a calendar for the archives, though the drop-down menu isn't so bad. Also it was seemingly impossible to get the blog title to link back on the archives page, so I had to add that lame-o button on the side. I'll try and fix it, I promise.
Daily Ruminations
I'm so bored. Funny, cuz I actually do have lots to do. I just don't want to do those things, or be responsible or even show a modicum of effort. I would like to enjoy being lazy a bit more, that just seems a bit impossible. So, today I will try and accomplish something. The internet is boring too, so nothing interesting unless someone points me to it.
Last night we watched Sin City, which I was rather skeptical about. It however, outshone itself. Wonderful graphics and a nice meaty story. I would actually like to see it again. So, tonight will be the date with Steve McQueen.

Comedy central has a blog
Called: CC Insider. The best part is the newest Daily Show clips are placed on the blog. No muss, no fuss.
You must watch the interview with Anna Nicole Smith, at the Pamela Anderson roast. She's a sharp one.

Wow

Sara's car was seriously messed up! She was hit on the driver's side by another vehicle, and then hit a telephone pole with the passenger's side. There is wood from the telephone pole still stuck in the car. We should all take a moment and thank Jesus that Sara is well (seriously, her picture of Jesus was unharmed in the accident and cast a force field around her that kept her safe). She did get to wear a fancy orange vest and waive her ability to sue for serious bodily injury or death that occured while she was getting her "personal items" out of her car.
Awww, a robot box for a kitty with missing limbs!
It's cute except I worry about all the spinning. And the meowing doesn't sound so happy.
Two weeks
That's right, two weeks since I quit smoking. Twelve years are beginning to erase themselves, as I no longer wheeze, cough or hack any longer. I can smell much better and my throat is no longer sore. The best part, no to little hangover when having had a ton to drink. Also, I'm not nearly as endlessly thirsty, which makes for fewer trips to the bathroom. Bonus: at kickball practice yesterday: I was out of breath because I was running, not because I just sucked all my oxygen out of my lungs. All around wonderful results, highly recommended.
A friend always says, do anything for two weeks and you'll be used to it, it gets easier and then you can decide more rationally whether or not you want to continue an activity. These last two weeks were a little slice of hell, but I can safely say that resisting the urge is hella easier now, and I'm pretty happy to have made it this long. Even the patch is history!
Well, today is off to the dump to help Sara extract her stereo from her wrecked car. (She's alright except for some whiplash and pain and suffering of course). Then hopefully I can drag my sorry ass to GS!'s for some painting.

weekend of love

So, had a good time this weekend. Went swimming twice, played some kickball and avoided the internet quite nicely. Which is why I'm just gonna end this now. More when I'm bored.
This little bugger made swimming a bit more interesting. See my photos for an actual photo...it has orange bands. Weird
I still haven't been back to paint GS's house, what a slacker I am!

blotto
Wowzers, last night was the first time in a hella long time that I was able to transport myself from one place to another simply by concentrating. Hottub, friends, too many dogs and a couple of drinks made for a hella wonderful night. With the headache today to prove it. What fun!

formula
Witty, witty, legal references. Mention of family, so special. Insert political discussion and slight outrage. Mention church picnic and argument with the in-laws.
The more blogs I look at the more stupid they all seem. But the best thing I've seen: blogging about the bar exam, inbetween test dates.
So, it's just not proper to discuss the bar exam particulars. The purpose is this: you mention something that someone else didn't get or the opposite way around and someone is bound to get hurt. Don't want to mess with the ego. I don't like discussing, but sometimes it just happens (it was a will, res judicata are two that have over the years killed me). So, here, a person blogs about the exam before the second day has even begun! AMAZING! I'm not linking because I hope they don't know I exist in blog land. But.....come on. Same person that listed their grades received during law school. WTF? Makes for a good blog, but a good lesson on what ramifications may be.
And another blog rant: Where the hello have all those blogs gone? I know, summer time. Hopefully they will come back with the shorter days.

There is a dent!
Oh goodness, our selling on ebay has hit a snag, oh yes, the MD player evidently had a dent in it. We'll see how that comes out. Who the hell buys a MD player these days anyway?
Weekend with the in-laws. Recovery day yesterday. It went better this weekend than past visits. I guess I'm learning to be an asshole too, yelling and screaming over everyone else. It also helped that I didn't endlessly want a cig. Speaking of which, 7 days without and 2 days off the patch. Some moments will make one want to sell the first born child, but overall, doing well.
Still painting the sandwich! house. Took a few days off though to deal with the inlaws and to recover from taking that bar exam (you may remember). I hope there will soon be a day when I actually enjoy the presence of others. First I need to take care of myself, thanks.

MEG LEG IS 30
I am extremely amiss in having not called Meg on her birthday yesterday when she actually did turn 30. So today, I make up for it.
Meg, you have become a wonderful friend. We met studying in law school and found we were able to bounce ideas off of each other, learning more through the process. Your patience in explaining leverage several times to me until I properly understood the concept was invaluable, which just serves as an example of the millions of other times you have helped me out. You have always been available to listen to my rants and raves and the fact that you are able to hate as much as I when stressed out makes me just wanna hug you. You are a great pal and I'll always be there for you when you are in need. It is the least I could do, considering all that you have done for me. Love ya doll!
Happy 30th birthday Meg. When you are back in town, let's throw you a proper shindig.
Your present? Here you go...your pick.
(Funny aside: I stayed home from lunch with the in-laws today....excuse: exploding diarrhea. Sad part: it was true.)

I know, focus, but I don't have to
I had no idea

The large amount of time that I must have spent on the internet, just looking at stupid stuff. Now that I'm up relatively early, painting a house all day, home at 7:30 and dinner done at 9:00, I really don't have any time to surf the web, let alone update this blog. We'll see.
Looks like vacation isn't gonna be until after Labor Day, so I'll have much more time to putz around the house, and oh, right, look for a job, and attempt to set up my web page. And I'll try to get those pics up from last weekend's trip. Looks like there will be more, gonna camp locally every weekend until our proper vacation.
I'm obsessed today with Ewan MacGregor. Mmmmm. He's got that twinkle in his eye just like my boy. I do still love Steve McQueen, don't get me wrong. I got lots of love to give.
good morning
The one good thing about studying for the bar was that I never had to make or keep any obligations other than my own. Now I think I will have to get a planner to keep track of all the social events and meetings that I am suppossed to attend. Why is it that no matter what, there is never any time just to re-frackin-lax?Steve kinda lost a couple of points with the peace sign there, but it was 1972, so I'll cut him a hella lot more slack than the folks down at Breitenbush (weird encounter this weekend!). Steve was arrested for drunken driving. Seems that he was having a good time regardless. His ears are kinda big. This is now the Steve McQueen blog.

Back from vacation

Lovely weekend. We got lost, had to hitchhike a ride, burnt the dog's feet, drank a lot, hiked a lot, breathed a lot of dust, discovered some new campgrounds, and learned how to travel without music. A very successful weekend. Sadly, it will likely be quite a while before I am able to discuss this trip, because this week is gonna be crazy. I have to paint a friend's house and clean my own for the in-laws visit this weekend. The following three weeks are destined to be bliss however, with a week to relax and plan the next two weeks of camping in British Columbia. Wonderful. Photos posted shortly.
Sadly, Steve McQueen and I will soon have much less in common. Though I guess it could be seen as a good thing.

My new life

The best part is that everyday seems like a Friday, with an endless weekend ahead of me. I'm going to enjoy it as much as I can. This weekend to the woods to regroup and get the Portland blues outta my system. Then next week, a bit of manual labor, painting great sandwich!'s house. Yep, I was a house painter in my last life. We will prove to the world that we are capable. We cleaned the exterior of the house today, and bought a bunch of goodies for the project. Likely this time next week I will have acquired a tan, have sweated out all the bar studying toxins, and hopefully lost those pesky bar pounds. That, will make me so much happier.
I have had no ability to surf the net for anything funny, nor to find out what is going on in the world, next week, perhaps. Although I would like to give a shout out to Marvin Gaye for loving me so much through the bar studying process and to Steve McQueen for being such a HOT actor.
Howdy folks
I'm so tired. Not necessarily physically, because I slept 12 hours last night. My exhaustion is of the mental and emotional type. Those are going to take a bit more time to recover from. Alas, the recovery is beginning, as the television is going to not be on, continuously, for as long as this takes. In the meantime, let's drink, I have some brain cells to kill.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So, I've taken the bar, and sadly, after an initial high, am reeling from shock. Likely a good night sleep will do me well. I haven't slept in a couple.

Here's something funny for you kids
I just slammed my right (write) hand into the table, resulting in searing nerve pain for about 1/2 hour. It still hurts to write and type and I hella hope it goes away quickly. HAHAHAHAHA. Ah, the irony. Futhermore, I would like to take this opportunity to bow out of blogging for a few days. I have a bar exam to take, after which I will have alcohol to drink and a bed to sleep in for days. Amen.
I also get to pick up the boy from the airport tonight. I've been conditioned through a former long-term, long-distance relationship to become incredibly nervous and antsy when dropping or picking up a loved one at the airport. I was unable to take S to the airport last Wed., because I had made myself sick worrying about his departure (I know, it was only for a weekend, but the conditioning, remember). And now, four hours before he will even arive, my tummy is a mess and I'm refreshing JetBlue's flight tracker every five minutes (he's currently over WI). Studying? Har, har. The best part is that he will be completely unaware (until reading this) that I'm in such a state of anxiety. So I will make a fool of myself at the airport.
As for the bar exam, I'm kinda excited today. The largest test of my mettle thus far in my life will shortly take place. Kinda like the Olympics for nerds. Sweet, I'm goin for the gold. USAUSAUSA! Thank you, it is really just an honor to be here today, to compete against all of these amazing other nerdy-nerds, I'll do my best with the tools I have and the result will be the result. I have a JD, beyotches.

Amazing
If you type in Jailed Susanne Summers into Google, my blog is the first hit. Hmmm. That raises so many questions.
More amazing: is the food one can get at Mexi-truck, on the corner of Killingsworth and Delaware. Go there, the tortillas are hand-made and I am always impressed with the price and quality of their food. Plus, they are now selling Mexi-cowboy hats and boots and FABULOUS shirts that you must see.
Most amazing of all: see who else is interested in My Sea Monkeys, you'll see I'm among wonderful company. He's filled his P2P entirely with porn too! Crapartist, is that you?)

You will enjoy this. These are essays and commentaries on the absurdity of human nature through Craig's List.
That's it!
I've wasted all day today, being hella angry about having to learn Civil Procedure. Didn't help that the esteemed professor that taught it during the bar review course obviously had somewhere else to be. So, because I have wasted so much time not doing anything (when I could have indulged in a spa day), I will now stay up until this is finished, I WILL KNOW CIV PRO!
I'm so tired of this. Burnt the hell out. Need a break. I've searched blogs this evening with the little "next blog" button and have further data for my theory that everyone's life sucks pretty much equally. So, next time you think you gots it so bad, just go right ahead and bitch about it as much as you want. Everyone else does. Just stop bitchin about everyone else bitchin. Hell, the ability to be frustrated with this pathetic society that we've created for ourselves is one of the few rights we still have. Oh no you can't take that away from me.
And I've tried to find funny links for you folks to try out the new email my posts link, to no avail. No one is being funny out there right now. On the other hand, I have a new blog idea - "bus poetry." It's fun, easy and hilarious. You'll see. I also have some new forwards, but that ain't gonna happen for a while.
Anyone know someone reliable that might wanna house/dog/cat sit for a couple of weeks in August? It's a fly house, yo and some cute ass critters.

Holy night terrors batman
Last night I had a series of horrible dreams. The worst by far was, you guessed it, a bar exam fiasco. The exam was taking place in a huge hotel, in an elaborate section of an industrial complex. There were thousands of people taking the bar, and I found a seat next to my friend Elvis (who is taking the WA bar so shouldn't even have been there). Before the exam started, I needed to go to the bathroom several times. Each time I went, I got lost, either in the hotel or in the city. I eventually found my way back to my seat each time, but with great difficulty, never remembering where my seat was. Perhaps my subconscious concerned that with Steve gone I am lost?
Likely so, as I awoke from the next dream so angry at Steve, I wanted to hit him. Luckily he wasn't there.
Those dreams, that make you wake with lingering emotions, it is so difficult to separate life and dream land. I just wish my dreams were nicer than life. Life sucks hard enough as it is. I chalk it all up to lack of alcohol.

Have I mentioned lately...
How sweet and wonderful my boyfriend, Steve is? I just say "the roommate" cuz it's funny. Regardless, he has been amazingly patient throughout this bar exam fiasco that has been made ever more difficult by the ever-present irritants of life. But they go away and thankfully he doesn't.
He bought me a pizza today so that I could have something to eat all week. Likely that is all that I will be eating. Not really, but it has always been hard for me to eat when I'm stressed, just ask the past roommates that weren't putting out. I've lived on Slimfast for extended periods of time.
Any way, the boy has left for the weekend. Full time study, no excuses, no distractions, the final stretch, and this time next week, I hope I will be passed out in his arms.
Update: I always tell people to check the flight status before you leave the house for the airport. I did not heed my own advice. Steve's flight is delayed one hour. So he's stuck at the airport, with two hours to wait.
Another update: Watch out NY, there's one hella HOT GUY IN YO CITY!

FYI
I have successfully killed my entire second batch of SeaMonkeys!
This time, it took much less time, none of them grew to recognition and they weren't even dumped in the toilet. Kudos to me! I think I'll just stick to the yo-yo. Fish and plants are not something that should be entrusted to me.
On that note, I had a plant, Felix, that has lived with me for at least 10 years. He was the most patient fellow, could go months without being watered and then would grow with the faintest of sprinklings. Well, in an effort to transplant Felix, I used some bad soil (unbeknownst to me at the time), and though I tried just about every form of plant resuscitation, Felix is no longer. Like I said, plants and fish, watch out.

This country
25,000 civilians' killed in Iraq
The roommate and I were discussing this issue the other day, that we as a nation are all in dismay over the loss of 50 or so lives in London. (Pardon if my numbers are wrong, I'm a bit busy these days.) Any loss of life is tragic. However, the very next day, 100 people died in a blast, and the day before, children, and the day before and after, many more. So, now these numbers. Do we care? No, we are racist and xenophobic. How many have we lost as a country, compared to being responsible for more than 7,500 of these deaths?
Another part of that discussion was in regard to those that live in countries that are killing in the name of Nationalism. That is what we are doing. Yet, the average citizen hasn't the ability to do a whole hella lot about it. So, please, history, do not judge me as harshly as most ignorant people judge the Germans citizens.
This is why I went to law school. To try and gain the skills that will allow me to affect some sort of change. Wish me luck.
Nothing funny to write about today.

keep on crackin
The noise from the front of the house was unbearable, so I went upstairs, to the rear of the house. Not so bad. I would go to University of Portland library, but I do enjoy being at home, mostly unclothed. All is well, until...
The rear neighbor decides it is time to play in the pool. The little girl screams and hollers and makes all kinds of noise. That's fine, that's what children do. Then they turn on the radio. They turn on some pop station and I have to listen to whiny boys and girls and the screaming girl in the pool.
So I go downstairs again, it's too hot upstairs anyway and I'm fine with that decision. I close windows on the rear of the house, and the construction is finished in the street. I'm doing fine here. However, the Polish neighbors have just decided to vacuum their house. This is a normal enough activity, but made unbearable by the fact that their Schaeferhund likes to howl while they vacuum.
I can't wait until the neighbor on the other side of the house gets home. Likely they will want to come over and smoke crack while their child runs around eating sugar cubes and shooting up.
It would be advisable that no one comes over to the house this evening.

WHEW!
On Friday evening, I received an e-mail from one Jeff Spencer (thebigguy30@yahoo.com), who notified me that:
With a little help from the roommate, I soon realized that the e-mail might not be real. Not, however, before a gate to HELL opened up underneath me and I teetered on its precipice. That's what ruined my weekend. No matter how much you tell yourself, after three years of hell and $120,000, those little words make one's soul die a little. Needlesstosay, I have spent some shitty nights until this morning when I received a response from the proper Oregon State Bar authorities, saying the most beautiful words:
"I can assure you that this is NOT a legitimate email. The Board of Bar Examiners has no concerns about your character and fitness."
(I'm hoping that they are refering to the above email, not really "this" one.)
So, I'm posting this to see if anyone out there in blog land knows who Jeff Spencer is, or whomever actually sent the original e-mail. It was a well-devised practical joke and I would sure like to thank the person who sent it.
"After a comprehensive review of your backround, The Board must regrettably inform you that you do not have the requisite character and fitness to practice law in Oregon. "

Hello everyone
Due to a little misunderstanding, I've had one hella shitty weekend. So, I'm going hiking today. Likely I will be hella more sane when I get back. Then back to the books, and trying not to kill anyone. I'm tired of studying and everyday question my life choices.
Update: Except for the jackhammers and the evil elements I feel hella better. See the hiking photos HERE.

Some bidness
I just changed all my links so that when you click on them, they will open up in another window. I'm not sure about it just yet, but chime in if it is either very annoying or really helpful. Hell, tell me what you do and do not like about my Blog, have a field day. However, patience please as I tweak my template.
More sea monkeys, just for Sara
There has been mysteriously introduced into the tank, you guessed it: THE BLACK DEATH. I do believe this is what killed them off the first time. I know, the dropping them in the toilet didn't help. However the only way to kill the PLAGUE is some sea monkey medicine that is seemingly unable to be purchased anywhere on the planet at the moment.
I'm cashing in my 2 year guarantee this time and gonna try and get new ones. Also, this time the tank goes into the dishwasher, with all the tools. (I just poured boiling water into the tank last time). If that doesn't work, then I'm done. The only explanation would be that it is in their food, or carried by the mutant ants that enjoy invading my home. Bastards!
I ate sushi tonight. Hopefully that will assist my brain functioning. Also, I've been crushing vitamins and putting them into the morning smoothies, to get us to take them. (We are so like children). Tumeric flavored smoothie is the BEST! Also, Crap, tell me about the effect of Omegas and fishes on my brain.

Do this too
Tell Dubya to do what is right, for once, and not pander so damn much, the little pansy. Chatting with my boy last night, we realized that while I'm not so much in love with Clinton as he is, at least Billy wasn't a complete policy idiot, waging personal wars and hoodwinking the nation. Who comprises this nation? Idiots that believe this man's drivel. I'm going to hell for sure.

Today
I just do not feel like studying.
Oh, and just for the record, I hate poetry. It sucks. Don't write it. Unless it's a song that ROCKS!

My dentist is HOT!
I love him. And he gets all angry when I tell him my last Dentist was an asshole and denies messing up my tooth. He's got my back.
(Though he's not nearly as HOT as my boyfriend, who really does have my back and the rest of me too).
On the other hand, the scraper lady seems to be a nazi. The office now has TVs on the chairs, so that I can watch TV while being tortured. Full cable nonetheless. Sweet, except for everytime I changed the channel, she made a little gasp, and I love to channel surf so there was a lot of gasping. She kept looking at the TV, and commenting. She made one comment that really angered me, when a guy kissed another on a reality TV show (he did so to piss off a really macho man). She emits, "GROSS!"
I don't like hearing people's opinion when they are working on my mouth. My first dentist visit as an adult occured while I was working on a Senate campaign. He told me ad nauseum about how Republicans were the best people ever and I was working for the devil. That's not a good idea. I wrote a scathing letter to the school that referred him, and they took him off their list.
If you are working with people, it is best to just not talk about politics or religion, unless you are working with a Tate.
So I get to the channel with Regis and Kathy Lee Jr, and she is riveted by an interview with Susanne Summers, who then sings (I'm now gasping in horror). I don't dare turn the channel. I think she paused for 3 minutes to watch. Not a good idea people out there that own businesses, to have TVs on where your workers can look. It's like a big shiny sparkling diamond, that no one can look away from. Like a light for moths.
Worst of all, the dentist comes in before I change the channel, and Mr. Hottie now thinks I like watching Regis and Kathy Lee Jr. Damn that woman.
I just wanted my teeth cleaned.

Update
Ummm, nothing really has happened. I'm down to the wire studying for the bar, with one day for each subject group. From here on out, every day will be like the day before a final. That's a nice feeling. Relationships are strained more than ever, but patience is a virtue that seems prolific in my friends.
Thank goodness, because while I'm short and snippy, love keeps pouring in. Presently, Chloe is lying all over my notecards, making it impossible to do any work.
Sea Monkeys: are well, about 10-15 left, we'll see. Like I mentioned before, yo-yo's are my new obsession, I think it helps to run through concepts to the rhythm.
Yard work: The boys and I transformed our backyard into a splendor of nature, there went my Saturday. It will look a hella lot better when we get some grass to plant on the side, with the lawn doubling in size. For that I'm very excited. It's comfy now and enjoyable. The house just needs a coat of paint and will look rather dashing.
Injury: Oh, this is exciting: I kicked a soccer ball square into Fife's face the other day, causing him to pierce his tongue with his tooth. He won't go near the soccer ball anymore. Which is sad, as it was his favorite game. There seems to be a homing device in the ball, because whenever I kick it, up high or down low, the ball ends up going in his direction or landing on top of him. I guess soccer is just not my game.

My new obsession, just in time for the bar
Thanks to Meg for taking me to Wunderland, where I earned enough tickets to buy a super light-up yo-yo. Alas, it broke due to my vigorous yo-yo'ing. Steve was wonderful enough to take me to Freddy's last night 15 minutes before they closed to get this wonder of modern technology: F.A.S.T. YOYOS. I can do most of the tricks, moderately well, and am planning on learning more today while I listen to a CD on Criminal Procedure. You cannot imagine anything more fun!

Happy Birthday
To PJR's new baby boy! Congratulations all around. Photos will be posted as soon as they are forwarded (hint, hint).

This is creepy. I was invited to join a text message service, which, upon reading the terms, decided I didn't want. This is the email they just sent:
J----', where did you go?
A few hours ago you attempted to join SMS.ac.
You didn't complete registration, so we made it very easy for you to finish. Just click this link, and continue from where you left off (we've remembered all the information that you previously entered). You're only 10 seconds away from completing!

I am officially cracked
I have entered full on study for the bar mode. Just like before finals. I'm in top mental shape, but my emotional and psychological (and for some reason spelling) facilities are a mess. I apologize to all of you that may have to cross my path. My responses won't make sense, I'll be touchy and crabby and needy. But nothing you do will be right, so don't worry. This should (please Lord) be the last time I ever have to go through anything like this. Three weeks. I'll be done on July 28th, and then, well, I don't know what normal me is anymore, but I will be back to a semblance of myself. Pray for me, and the others that are taking this bastard of a torture test. I apologize again, because I know I'm gonna be a mess and will make an ass of myself. I'll try not to impose that person on anyone. It's hermit-time.
I'm kinda torn on this one
US reporter jailed in CIA trial. Is this an issue of freedom of the press, or is it the Bush administration trying to keep something hush-hush? Cuz if we're talking about freedoms, what the hell is more important, confidential sources (I should note, not even attorneys and doctors have total confidentiality with their clients/patients) or unlawful detentions? Scary, our principles.
Oh you kids are gonna love this one!
Remember how South Carolina had the largest number of racist organizations? Well, there is a movement to gather all the Christians there now. Not to fix the racism, but because they want to change the country one state at a time. Guess they figure they might as well start with the easiest state. Oh thank Jesus! If they are all in one place, a place I never need to return to, wouldn't that be lovely? Christian Exodus :: Come Out of Her, My People. And what is up with the title? Come out of her? Really? Is that the new non-contraceptive, anti-abortion solution? Better yet, on their letterhead, they quote the establishment clause, and don't seem to realize the irony in wanting to overthrow our government and exchange it for some nutcases that believe in their checklist of crap, all in the name of GOD.

The ultimate puzzle
Stanford Digital Forma Urbis Romae Project Home If you can figure out how to deal with this information, it might be fun to try your hand at matching up the pieces. Good luck!
That's it!
Does anyone know of a reputable orthopedist, that specializes in hands, wrists, carpal tunnel? My left hand keeps going numb, the last tell-tale sign. I have to get to a doctor before my insurance runs out.
Ok, if he can do it...
Napoleon 'tried to learn English' and I will try to learn Latin (or at least enough of it to pass the bar). I was really hoping that this article would give me some study tips, but I've just realized what I must do. Ignoring everyone else's tips are crucial. I have to just do what I did to get through law school, with some modification for the breadth of this material. OK, back on track, watch out now!

Law is so funny
As is the attempt to practice it:
1. Yesterday I got my a job rejection letter, three weeks after I already knew about not even getting an interview.
2. Today I got a packet from the Oregon Bar Association, graciously stating that they have decided I am worthy to take the Bar exam. Oh whew! I would be so pissed had they said anything else. Can you imagine...um, we know you've been working your ass off for the last month and a half, but sorry, you can't take the Bar exam.
The speedy machine of justice marches ever onward.

"Battle ahead for the soul of the nation"
Bye Sandra Oh God. Ok, this is the last straw. Now is the time to write to your Congressperson, tell them not to be pansys and please, please don't completely destroy this country. Oh, I'm so sad.
I found an easy way for all you slackers to get ahold of your Senators and tell them how you feel about the nomination.
On the other hand...I do have an application all ready to go.
